Born in 1998 in the remote Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, Aitzaz Hasan was a cheerful, stoutly built ninth-grade student at the Government High School Ibrahimzai, known among his peers for his courage, humor, and dreams of joining the military.

Facing Adversity, Rejections & The Grind
On January 6, 2014, Hangu was targeted by sectarian terrorists. While Aitzaz and two friends were standing outside the school gate because they had been marked tardy, a strange man dressed in school uniform approached, carrying a hidden suicide vest packed with over six kilograms of explosives aimed at the school assembly of nearly 2,000 students.

He was posthumously honored with Pakistan's highest civilian gallantry award, the Sitara-e-Shujaat, and hailed by international leaders as an immortal hero who embodied youth defiance against terror.
